Making calls - Low cost calls from home

Making calls with Tesco Internet Phone is easy. All you need is a standard microphone and speakers, or one of our USB phones. Connect these to your computer, and make sure the volume for both speaker and microphone is at an acceptable level.

Calling other Tesco Internet Phone users

These calls are free. Simply type in the Tesco Internet Phone number on your keypad or the dial pad. Then press 'Call'. (Tip: To make the dial pad bigger, click the green < arrow on the left side of the Tesco Internet Phone screen.)

Calling normal phones

These calls are charged, so make sure you have enough credit in your account.

  • Dial + (The * key on Tesco Internet Phone's dial pad)
  • Enter the country code
  • Enter the area code, ignoring the first digit if it's a zero
  • Enter the phone number
  • Press 'Call'

Using your Contacts list

If the person you want to call is listed in your contacts, either:

  • double click their name
  • or, click their name once and press 'call'

Making a call using the USB handset:

  • Dial a number using the number keys and press the 'dial' button or
  • From your USB handset display select the person/number you wish to call and then press the ‘dial’ button
  • Use the handset to talk
  • To end a call press the 'hang up' button on either the on-screen phone or the USB handset

Making a call using the on-screen phone:

  • Dial a number by clicking the numbers in turn with your mouse or using the numbers on your keyboard and then click the 'dial/answer' key button
  • Select your phonebook using the 'Menu' button, choose a number from the list and then click the 'dial/answer key' button
  • Use the USB handset to talk
  • To end a call click the 'hang up' button on the on-screen phone or the 'hang up' button on the USB handset
